I do agree with scrapping of the 10th board exams after a total revolution is made in education like teaching learning process, education should link by real life example, field trip related topic etc. It is also fact that due to 10th board exam so many cases of suicides occur so try to make revolution in education as early as possible and save the future of India.
I hope education revolution will come and 10th board exam go.

according to me also 10 class exams not to be made optional because if we have fear of board now then what are we going to do in the case of aptitude tests . we are known for the best study system and if we make study simpler day by day we can not make judge ourself that how hard we can work. so we have to face this situation now only and dont fear about board exams

i also in against the decision of sibbal ji to revoke the board exams .as we know that students even now days don't take interest in studies ,specially students of govt schools.if board exams will be scraped then the literacy rate become the worst as board force them to study hard to get pass.
The inferior complex among those students who appear in the exams, can be develop as other don't face this stage but some have to do.

I dont think its a good idea because now a days student are not focusing on studies and if 10th board exams are also scrapped than the condition will be more worst. I think i should not be done at all and by this decision poor people will be badly effected as if they cant afford higher studies and if 10th board exams are scrapped then student will not be able to judge themself whether they can study the stream which they want to take or not so my advise is not to scrapped 10th board exams.

Well enough discussion is made on this subject and more discussion is required and Mr. Sibal should read all these posts. It is not that that he does not know. The reason is that they want votes and make more money. In Andhra Pradesh (from where U.P.A government has drawn the idea of private participation) mushroom schools were started and the private operators are making money. So U.P.A government wants to scrap 10th exams so that the child studies up to 12th class and the private operators who are governing India can make more money. Now coming to the cover-up given by the Minister to reduce the drop out rates, most of the states did not announce their drop out rates so far. I am doubtful that the respective governments have the correct data about drop out rates. How ever in recent past I read that Gujarat is taking the lead in drop out rate. But why the government does not address the drop out problem directly? Is the solution hidden in scraping 10th exams? Only by the fear of exams students are dropping out or because of their socio economic standard they are dropping. If U.P.A government feels because of the drop out rate, they are doing away with the 10th exams we welcome. But what about its root cause? Why the student is getting stressed. Is it only because of the examination fear? Is so every second we are stressed for some reason or other. Shall we keep on scrapping every thing? I recommend that instead of scrapping the exams let the government directly address the problem and try to solve it. The government is giving another cover up the students are committing suicide due to trauma. Good but what percentage? The data says that in India it is recorded 4lakh children are committing suicide every year. It is to be argued that at what stage the student is committing suicide. Before the exams are after the exams or immediately after joining in a particular class. The government has no data. If the problem is addressed in this direction perhaps the government may find a solution. But the government eye is not on this particular issue “trauma”. Their hidden agenda was already given in the first lines only. If the government feels scrapping the exams give a solution, there should not be an examination at any level. Then how the competency is to be decided? Would the government decide their competency once again on caste, creed and religion? Then the society commits suicide. It is a know fact that it is the brain child of our great Prime Minister. They want it is to be stamped by the famous educationalist Mr. Yashpal. We the teaching community (I am a physics lecturer and the state general secretary for Aided Junior college Lecturers’ Association A.P and co-chairman for joint action committee for Intermediate vidya parirakhana committee, save intermediate education) surprised how Mr. Yashpal gave his recommendation for such a stupid plan. Also it surprises us that the whole news is moving around scrapping on 10th board exams but not on other recommendations. The government is in hurry to introduce the bill in the ensuing parliamentary session only. Is to corner the opposition parties? Now it is the responsibility of the government to come out clearly with what is its hidden agenda without addressing the problem directly. Till such time we the educationalists continue to harp the government. Education is in the concurrent list. It just cannot take away the right of the child to grow vertically. If they scrap the examinations, the student is allowed to post pone his programmed of suicide for two more years. The government which cannot introduce the right to education bill so far how dare that they can introduce this bill with out proper discussion.
